Friday, April 8th 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in Portland, Oregon Sharing a night with Cindy Kallet and Grey Larson
We are thrilled to be sharing an evening with Cindy
Kallet and Grey Larson. You’ll hear Cindy's sparkling
original songs, distinctive settings of traditional
Irish music, Scandinavian fiddle duets, old-time
fiddle and guitar tunes from southern Indiana, and new
music that Cindy and Grey are inventing together.
Their music is deeply rooted in folk traditions, and
interwoven with the Renaissance and Baroque
counterpoint in which both Cindy and Grey were
immersed while growing up. Included are vocal duets,
guitar, Irish flute, Irish alto flute, tin whistle,
concertina, harmonium, and duet fiddling, and plenty
of stories that put the music into a personal context.
Together, they weave songs and tunes of vibrant color
and rich texture. You can hear some of the music, read
reviews, etc. at Cindy
and Grey's website. Info on the concert: 503-788-2333 or

Saturday, December 5th, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Portland, Oregon “Season of Lights Concert” to Benefit JFCS Emergency Aid
The winter holiday season is traditionally
filled with light, family, fun, and friendship. Unfortunately, for many
families, just taking care of basic survival needs has become such a
struggle that there are few, if any, resources available to devote to
holiday festivities.
In
order to brighten the holidays for families with few resources to
spare, Peter Zisa and friends are proud to present the “Season of Lights
Concert” as a FREE gift to the community. In lieu of charging for
admission, they are asking attendees who can afford to do so to instead
make a donation to the Jewish Family & Child Service emergency aid
fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to individuals and
families struggling to make ends meet.
The Season of Lights Concert will be held on Saturday, December 5th at
7:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church, downtown at the corner of SW
Park & Columbia. Free underground parking is available. Concert
performers will include:
Thousand Waves (flute, koto, and classical guitar)
All
the Season of Lights performers have generously donated their talent,
time, and resources in order to raise emergency aid funds for needy
families, and to make sure that no one misses out on a holiday concert
due to lack of financial resources. Truly, both gifts of light and love
in a time of darkness.
